Materials: For the fox you will need 2.5 mm crochet hook and suitable weight yarn in orange, white and black. Fiberfill stuffing and a tapestry needle.

Abbreviations:

ch: chain

sc: single crochet

sc2tog: single crochet 2 together (decrease)

sc BLO: single crochet in the back loop only

hdc: half double crochet

dc: double crochet

p: picot (Ch 3, sl st in the third ch from hook)

sl st: slip stitch

Head:

Work in continuous rounds, use a stitch marker to keep track off your rounds.

Use orange yarn for the head.

Round 1: In magic ring work 6 sc. (6 st).

Round 2:  2 sc in each st around. (12 sts).

Round 3: *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (18 sts).

Round 4: *1 sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (24 sts).

Round 5: *1 sc in next 11 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (26 sts).

Round 6: *1 sc in next 12 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (28 sts).

Rounds 7 – 9: 1 sc in each sts around. (28 sts).

Round 10: *1 sc in next 12 sts, sc2tog *, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (26 sts).

Round 11: *1 sc in next 11 sts, sc2tog *, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (24 sts).

Round 12: *1 sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog *, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (18 sts).

Start stuffing the head with the fiberfill.

Round 13: *1 sc in next st, sc2tog *, repeat from * to * untilthe end of the round. (12 sts).

Round 14: sc2tog until the end of the round. (6 sts). Fasten off, use tail to sew hole closed

Snout:

The snout consists of two pieces, which we join together while we form the second piece.

Work in continuous rounds, use a stitch marker to keep track off your rounds.

Use white yarn.

First piece:

Round 1: In magic ring work 5 sc. (5 sts).

Round 2: 2 sc in each st. (10 sts).

Round 3: 1 sc, 2 sc, 1 sc, (1 sc and 1 hdc into the same st)), 1 hdc, 2 dc, 1 hdc, (1 hdc and 1 sc into the same st), 1 sc, 2 sc. (15 sts). Join the round with sl st into the first st. Fasten off.

Second piece:

Repeat rounds 1 and 2.

Round 3: 1 sc, 2 sc, 1 sc, (1 sc and 1 hdc into the same st)), 1 hdc, (1 dc, join the first piece with a sl st between the 2dc, 1 dc into the same st), 1 hdc, (1 hdc and 1 sc into the same st), 1 sc, 2 sc. (15 sts). Join the round with sl st into the first st.

Round 4: Ch 1. (1 sc, 1p, 1sc). (1sc, 1p). (1 sc, 1p, 1 sc). Work 1 sc in the next 2 sts. 2 sc. sc2tog. 1sc. 2 sc. Work 1 sc in the next 2 sts. (1 sc, 1p). (2 sc, 1p). 1 sc. (1 sc, 1p, 1sc). Work 1 sc in the next 2 sts. 2 sc. 1 sc. sc2tog. 1sc. 2 sc. Work 1 sc in the next 2 sts. (2 sc, 1p). 1 sc. Join with sl st into the first st. Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.

Sew the snout to the head. Using black yarn, embroider the eyes and nose.

Ears:

Make 2.

Make the outer ear using orange.

Row 1: In magic ring work 4 sc. Ch 1. Turn. (4 sts).

Row 2: 2 sc in the first st. 1 sc and 1 dc in the next st. 1 dc and 1 sc in the next st. 2 sc in the last st. (8 sts). Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.

Use white for the inner ear.

Row 1: In magic ring work 1 sc, 2 dc and 1 sc. Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.

Sew the inner ear onto the outer ear. Sew ears on the head.

Body:

Work in continuous rounds, use a stitch marker to keep track off your rounds.

We crochet the body first, leaving holes for the knees. Then we go back to form the knees.

Use orange yarn.

Round 1: In magic ring work 8 sc. (8 st).

Round 2:  2 sc in each st around. (16 sts).

Round 3: *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (24 sts).

Round 4: *1 sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (32 sts).

Round 5: *1 sc in next 15 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (34 sts).

Round 6: 1 sc in each st. (34 sts).

Round 7: *1 sc in the next 16 sts, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (36 sts).

Rounds 8 -10: 1 sc in each st. (36 sts).

Round 11: 1 sc in the next 9 sts. Ch 2, skip the next 8 sts and work 1 sc in the next 10 sts. Ch 2, skip the next 8 sts and work 1 sc in the next st. (24 sts).

Round 12: 1 sc in the next 9 sts. 1 sc BLO in the next 2 sts. 1 sc in the next 10 sts. 1 sc BLO in the next 2 sts. 1 sc in the next st. (24 sts).

Rounds 13 – 14: 1 sc in each sts. ( 24 sts).

Round 15: *1 sc in the next st, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (16 sts).

Rounds 16 – 17: 1 sc in each st. (16 sts).

Round 18: Sc2tog, repeat until the end of the round. (8 sts). Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.

For the knees:

Round 1: Attach new yarn in one of the knee holes. Work 1 sc in each st. (10 sts).

Round 2: 1 sc in each st. (10 sts).

Round 3: Sc2tog, repeat until the end of the round. (5 sts). Fasten off, use tail to sew hole closed.

Repeat for the second knee.

Use the neck opening to stuff the body.

Front legs:

Use black yarn. Make two.

Ch 11. Turn

Row 1: Insert the hook in the second ch from the hook and work 1 sc in each st. (10 st). Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.

Sew the legs on the body.

Belly:

Work in continuous rounds, use a stitch marker to keep track off your rounds.

Use white yarn.

Round 1: In magic ring work 8 sc. (8 st).

Round 2:  2 sc in each st around. (16 sts).

Round 3: *1 sc, 2 sc, 1 sc.(1 sc and 1 hdc in the same st). 1 hdc, 2 dc, 1 hdc. (1 hdc and 1 sc in the same st)*, repeat from * to * one more time. Join with sl st into the first st. Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.

Sew the belly on the body.

Tail:

Work in continuous rounds, use a stitch marker to keep track off your rounds.

Use white yarn.

Round 1: In magic ring work 3 sc. (3 st).

Round 2:  2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in the next 2 sts. (4 sts).

Round 3: *1 sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat from * to * one more time. (6 sts).

Round 4: *1 sc in the next 2 sts, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat from * to * one more time. (8 sts).

Continue with orange yarn.

Round 5: 1 sc in each st. (8 sts).

Round 6: *1 sc in the next 3 sts, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat from * to * one more time. (10 sts).

Rounds 7 – 8: 1 sc in each st. (10 sts).

Round 9: *1 sc in the next 4 sts, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat from * to * one more time. (12 sts).

Round 10: 1 sc in each st. (12 sts).

Round 11: *1 sc in the next 4 sts, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * one more time. (10 sts).

Start stuffing the tail.

Round 12: 1 sc in each st. (10 sts).

Round 13: *1 sc in the next 3 sts, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * one more time. (8 sts).

Round 14: 1 sc in each st. (8 sts).

Round 15: *1 sc in the next 2 sts, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * one more time. (6 sts).

Rounds 16 – 17: 1 sc in each st. (6 sts). Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.
