Bear

Materials: For the bear you will need 2.5 mm crochet hook and suitable weight yarn in brown, beige and black. Fiberfill stuffing and a tapestry needle.

Abbreviations:

ch: chain

sc: single crochet

sc2tog: single crochet 2 together (decrease)

sl st: slip stitch

Head

Work in continuous rounds, use a stitch marker to keep track off your rounds.

Round 1: In magic ring work 6 sc. (6 st).

Round 2:  2 sc in each st around. (12 sts).

Round 3: *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (18 sts).

Round 4: *1 sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (24 sts).

Round 5: *1 sc in next 11 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (26 sts).

Round 6: *1 sc in next 12 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (28 sts).

Rounds 7 – 9: 1 sc in each sts around. (28 sts).

Round 10: *1 sc in next 12 sts, sc2tog *, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (26 sts).

Round 11: *1 sc in next 11 sts, sc2tog *, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (24 sts).

Round 12: *1 sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog *, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (18 sts).

Start stuffing the head with the fiberfill.

Round 13: *1 sc in next st, sc2tog *, repeat from * to * untilthe end of the round. (12 sts).

Round 14: sc2tog until the end of the round. (6 sts). Fasten off, use tail to sew hole closed.

Snout:

Round 1: In magic ring work 12 sc. (12 sts).

Round 2: *1 sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (14 sts). Join the round with sl st in the first st. Fasten off.

Sew the snout to the head. Using black yarn, embroider the eyes and nose.

Ears:

Make 2.

Make the outer ear using brown.

Row 1: In magic ring work 4 sc. Ch 1. Turn. (4 sts).

Row 2: 2 sc in each st (8 sts). Fasten off.

Use beige for the inner ear.

Row 1: In magic ring work 4 sc. Fasten off.

Sew the inner ear onto the outer ear. Sew ears on the head.

Body:

We crochet the legs separately and then we join them together gradually forming the bear’s body.

Back leg:

Round 1: In magic ring work 8 sc. (8 sts).

Round 2: 2 sc in each st around. (16 sts).

Rounds 3 – 6: 1 sc in each st around. (16 sts). Sl st in the first st to closed the round. Fasten off.

First leg:

Round 1: in magic ring work 5 sc. (5 sts.).

Round 2: 2 sc in each st around. (10 sts).

Rounds 3 – 4: 1 sc in each st around. (10 sts). Sl st in the first st to closed the round. Fasten off leave tail for sewing

Second leg:

Round 1: In magic ring work 5 sc. (5 sts).

Round 2: 2 sc in each st around. (10 sts).

Rounds 3 – 4: 1 sc in each st around. (10 sts). Sl st in the first st to closed the round.

Join the legs:

Round 5: Insert the hook into the first leg (in the stitch after the sl st) and work 1 sc in each sts. When you reach the end keep crocheting into the second leg, 1 sc in each sts. (20 sts). Use the tail of the first leg to close the hole between the legs.

Rounds 6 – 7: 1 sc in each sts. (20 sts).

Round 8: 1 sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st. 1 sc in next 9 sts, 2 sc in next st. 1 sc in next 4 sts. (22 sts).

Now we join the back leg.

Round 9: 1 sc in next 16 sts. Insert hook into the back leg and work 1 sc in each sts. Continue in the front legs, 1 sc in the next6 sts. Use the back leg tail to close the hole between the legs. (38 sts).

Rounds 10 – 11: 1 sc in each st. (38 sts).

Round 12: 1 sc in the next 4 sts, sc2tog. 1 sc in the next 17 sts, sg2tog. 1 sc in the next 13 sts. (36 sts).

Round 13: 1 sc in each st. (36 sts).

Round 14: Ch 2, skip the next 10 sts and work 1 sc in the next 26 sts. (28 sts).

Round 15: 1 sc in each st. (28 sts).

Round 16: *1 sc in the next 2 sts, sc2tog*, repeat until the end of the round. (21 sts).

Round 17: *1 sc in the next st, sc2tog*, repeat until the end of the round. (14 sts).

Round 18: *sc2tog*, repeat until the end of the round. (7 sts). Fasten off. leave tail to sew the hole.

Use the neck opening for stuffing. Sew the head on the body.

Tail:

Round 1: In magic ring work 6 sc. (6 sts).

Round 2: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next*, repeat around. (9 sts). Fasten off.

Sew the tail to the body.
