Materials: For the squirrel you will need 2.5 mm crochet hook and suitable weight yarn in mustard, beige and black. Fiberfill stuffing and a tapestry needle.

Abbreviations:

ch: chain

sc: single crochet

sc2tog: single crochet 2 together (decrease)

hdc: half double crochet

dc: double crochet

sl st: slip stitch

st(s): stitch(es)

Head:

Work in continuous rounds, use a stitch marker to keep track off your rounds.

Use mustard yarn for the head.

Round 1: In magic ring work 6 sc. (6 st).

Round 2:  2 sc in each st around. (12 sts).

Round 3: *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (18 sts).

Round 4: *1 sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (24 sts).

Round 5: *1 sc in next 11 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (26 sts).

Round 6: *1 sc in next 12 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (28 sts).

Rounds 7 – 9: 1 sc in each sts around. (28 sts).

Round 10: *1 sc in next 12 sts, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (26 sts).

Round 11: *1 sc in next 11 sts, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (24 sts).

Round 12: *1 sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (18 sts).

Start stuffing the head with the fiberfill.

Round 13: *1 sc in next st, sc2tog *, repeat from * to * untilthe end of the round. (12 sts).

Round 14: sc2tog until the end of the round. (6 sts). Fasten off, use tail to sew hole closed.

head-pieces

Snout:

The snout consists of two pieces, which we sew side by side to form the snout.

Work in continuous rounds, use a stitch marker to keep track off your rounds.

Use beige yarn. Make two.

Round 1: In magic ring work 6 sc. (6 sts).

Round 2: 2 sc in the first 2 sts. (1 hdc and 1 dc) in the next st. (1 dc and 1 hdc) in the next st. 2 sc in the next 2 sts. (12 sts). Join the round with sl st into the first st. Fasten off.

Sew the two pieces of the snout to the head. Using black yarn, embroider the eyes and nose.

head

Ears:

Make 2.

Make the outer ear using mustard.

Row 1: In magic ring work 4 sc. Ch 1. Turn. (4 sts).

Row 2: 2 sc in the first st. 1 sc and 1 dc in the next st. 1 dc and 1 sc in the next st. 2 sc in the last st. (8 sts). Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.

Use beige for the inner ear.

Row 1: In magic ring work 1 sc, 2 dc and 1 sc. Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.

Sew the inner ear onto the outer ear. Sew ears on the head.

body-parts

Body:

Work in continuous rounds, use a stitch marker to keep track off your rounds.

Use mustard yarn.

Round 1: In magic ring work 8 sc. (8 st).

Round 2:  2 sc in each st around. (16 sts).

Round 3: *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (24 sts).

Round 4: *1 sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (32 sts).

Round 5: *1 sc in next 15 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (34 sts).

Rounds 6 – 8: 1 sc in each st. (34 sts).

Round 9: *1 sc in the next 15 sts, sc2tog *, repeat from * to * 1 more time. (32 sts).

Round 10: *1 sc in the next 2 sts, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (24 sts).

Rounds 11 – 13: 1 sc in each st. (24 sts).

Round 14: *1 sc in the next st, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (16 sts).

Round 15: 1 sc in each st. (16 sts).

Round 16: Sc2tog, repeat until the end of the round. (8 sts). Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.

Use the neck opening to stuff the body. Sew the head on the body.

Belly:

Work in continuous rounds, use a stitch marker to keep track off your rounds.

Use beige yarn.

Round 1: In magic ring work 8 sc. (8 st).

Round 2:  2 sc in each st around. (16 sts).

Round 3: *1 sc, 2 sc, 1 sc.(1 sc and 1 hdc in the same st). 1 hdc, 2 dc, 1 hdc. (1 hdc and 1 sc in the same st)*, repeat from * to * one more time. Join with sl st into the first st. Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.

Sew the belly on the body.

Legs:

Use mustard yarn. Make two.

Round 1: In magic ring work 6 sc. (6 sts).

Round 2: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next*, repeat around. Join the round with a sl st in the first st. (9 sts). Fasten off.

Sew the legs on the body.

tail

Tail:

Work in continuous rounds, use a stitch marker to keep track off your rounds.

Use mustard  yarn.

Round 1: In magic ring work 6 sc. (6 st).

Round 2:  1 sc in each st around. (6 sts).

Round 3: *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (9 sts).

Rounds 4 – 11: 1 sc in each sts around (9 sts).

Round 12: *1 sc in the next 2 st, 2 sts in the next st*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (9 sts).

Rounds 13 – 16: 1 sc in each sts around. (12 sts).

Round 17: * 1 sc in the next 3 sts, 2 sts in the next st*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (15 sts).

Rounds 18 – 19: 1 sc in each sts around. (15 sts).

Round 20: *1 sc in the next 3 sts, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (12 sts).

Round 21: 1 sc in each sts around. (12 sts).

Start stuffing the tail with the fiberfill.

Round 22: *1 sc in the next 2 sts, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (9 sts).

Round 23: 1 sc in each sts around. (9 sts).

Round 24: *1 sc in the next st, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * until the end of the round. (6 sts). Fasten off, use tail to sew hole closed.

For the inside of the tail use beige.

Ch 17. Turn.

Round 1: Work 1 sc in the second ch from hook and 1 sc in each of the next 14 sts, work 3 sc in the last st of the ch, turn and work on the opposite side of the chain. Work 1 sc in the next 15 sts. Ch 1. Turn.

Round 2: Sl st in the next 7 sts. 1 sc in the next 7 sts. *1 hdc in the next st, 2 hdc in the next st*, repeat from * to * one more time. 1 hdc in the next st. 1 sc in the next 7 sts.  sl st in the next 7 sts. Fasten off, use tail for sewing.

Sew the inside on the tail. Then, bend the upper side of the tail and make a few stitches to hold in place. Finally sew the tail on the body.
