It’s Back To School Time!

Soon your older kids will come home with a long list of school supplies and the little siblings might feel a little bit left out, so why not knit a cute pencil just for them! It is also a great gift idea for first time students or just for a lovely school theme decoration.

Pattern Information

Materials
Yarn: Sport weight (50gr/125m) cotton yarn in pink (5gr/12.5m), grey (2.5gr/6.25m), yellow (11gr/27.5m), beige (4gr/10m) and black (1.5gr/3.75m).
For my sample I use Scheepjes Catona in the colorways: Marshmallow (518), Mercury (074), Yellow Gold (208), English Tea (404) and Jet Black (110).
Needles: 2.5 mm double pointed needles.
Notions: Fiberfill for stuffing, pins, tapestry needle, stitch marker and scissors.

Gauge
26 stitches and 40 rounds to 10 cm (4 in) in Stockinette St in the round.
Gauge is not important for this project. However, changes might affect the finished measurements.

Finished Measurements
Approx. 16 cm (6.3 in) tall and 8 cm (3.4 in) wide.

Difficulty
Easy to Intermediate. Basic knit in the round skills required.

Abbreviations
k: knit
kfb: knit into the front and back (increase)
k2tog: knit 2 together (decrease)
p: purl
rnds: rounds
st(sts): stitch (stitches)
[…]: repeat enclosed instructions the amount of times indicated
(…): total number of sts of the round and/or additional information
