School year has (finally) come to an end and as is customary we make a small appreciation gift for the teacher. After a lot of thinking we decided to make a crochet keychain jellyfish and a handmade card (no photo).
For the jellyfish i use cotton yarn and a 2.5 mm hook, a tapestry needle and some fibberfill stuffing. The pattern is working in a spiral, use a stitch marker to keep track off your rounds.
Abbreviations:
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
sl st: slip stitch
st(s): stitch(s)
For the body:
Round 1: In a magic circle work 5 sc (5 sts).
Round 2: work 2 sc in each st around (10 sts).
Round 3: Work 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next, repeat around (15 sts).
Round 4: Work 1 sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next, repeat around (20 sts).

Rounds 7 – 11: Work 1 sc in each st around (30 sts).
Skip next st and sl st in next to close the round.
Round 12: Ch 1 and turn. For this round we work on the back loop only. Work 4 dc in the next st, 1 sc in next, repeat around. Close with sl st at the ch 1. Fasten off and weave in the ends. Leave it as it is, or use some yarn and embroidery two eyes and a smile.
For the base:
Repeat rounds 1 to 6 of the body. Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.
For the tentacles:
Ch 26, turn.
Work 2 sc in each st. Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.
Repeat to make as many tentacles as you like. I make 7.
Assembly:
Sew the tentacles to the base. Sew the base to the body, before closing stuff with fiberfill.
