Popcorn stitch is a nice way to add texture to your fabric and is real easy to make.
To create a popcorn stitch all you need is to work a few stitches into one stitch (or chain space) and then gather them at the top with one stitch. This will create a ball or bump that “pops” of the fabric.
They are many variations of how to work this stitch. The most common is to work 5 double crochet stitches (US terminology), but you can work more or fewer stitches and you can also change the height of the stitches.
In this tutorial you will learn how to crochet the 5 double crochet popcorn stitch on the front and back side of your fabric.
For a Popcorn stitch on the front of your fabric
Work 5 double crochet in the same stitch.
Remove the hook from the loop and insert it from front to back into the first dc of the group.
Insert the hook back in the dropped loop.
And pull it through the top of the first double crochet. You complete one popcorn stitch on the front of your fabric.
