These hearts were supposed to be part of my Christmas decoration, only I didn’t have much time at that period so I left them unfinished. But no matter, there is always room for hearts on Valentine’s decoration.

The pattern is real easy, single crochet work in rows. It needs a bit of attention at the colour changes, at the beginning at least , because after a couple of  rows you get used to it. The heart consists of two pieces, one for the front and one for the back, that we join them together at the end. The written instructions are for a single colour heart. The plaid pattern is  show at the chart.

Materials: You will need a 2.5 mm crochet hook and suitable weight yarn in three different colours. Fibrefill stuffing and a tapestry needle.

ch: chain

sc: single crochet

sc2tog: single crochet 2 together (decrease)

st(s): stitch(es)

Heart: Make 2 (one plaid and one single color)

Row 1: In magic circle work 2 sc. Ch1. Turn. (2 sts).

Row 2: 2 sc in each st. Ch 1. turn. (4 sts).

Row 3: 2 sc in the first st. 1 sc in the next 2 sts. 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1. Turn. (6 sts).

Row 4: 2 sc in the first st. 1 sc in the next 4 sts. 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1. Turn. (8 sts).

Row 5: 2 sc in the first st. 1 sc in the next 6 sts. 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1. Turn. (10 sts).

Row 6: 2 sc in the first st. 1 sc in the next 8 sts. 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1. Turn. (12 sts).

Row 7: 2 sc in the first st. 1 sc in the next 10 sts. 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1. Turn. (14 sts).

Row 8: 2 sc in the first st. 1 sc in the next 12 sts. 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1. Turn. (16 sts).

Row 9: 2 sc in the first st. 1 sc in the next 14 sts. 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1. Turn. (18 sts).

Row 10: 2 sc in the first st. 1 sc in the next 16 sts. 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1. Turn. (20 sts).

Row 11: 2 sc in the first st. 1 sc in the next 18 sts. 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1. Turn. (22 sts).

Row 12: 1 sc in each st. Ch 1. Turn. (22 sts).

Row 13: Sc2tog. 1 sc in the next 9 sts. Ch 1. Turn. (10 sts).

Row 14: Sc2tog. 1 sc in the next 6 sts. Sc2tog. Ch 1. Turn. (8 sts).

Row 15: Sc2tog. 1 sc in the next 4 sts. Sc2tog. Ch 1. Turn. (6 sts).

Row 16: Sc2tog. 1 sc in the next 2 sts. Sc2tog. Ch 1. Turn. (4 sts).

Row 17: Sc2tog, 2 times. Ch 1. Turn. (2 sts). Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Attach new yarn on the last st of the row 13.

Row 18: 1 sc in the next 9 sts. Sc2tog. Ch 1. Turn. (10 sts).

Row 19: Sc2tog. 1 sc in the next 6 sts. Sc2tog. Ch 1. Turn. (8 sts).

Row 20: Sc2tog. 1 sc in the next 4 sts. Sc2tog. Ch 1. Turn. (6 sts).

Row 21: Sc2tog. 1 sc in the next 2 sts. Sc2tog. Ch 1. Turn. (4 sts).

Row 22: Sc2tog. 2 times. (2 sts). Cut the yarn and fasten off.

After you complete the two sides, place one on top of other and join them together making sc all around them. Don’t forget to stuff them before you closed them.
