Every year I try to add some new handmade ornaments on our Christmas decoration. Of course this year was not going to be an exception, so a few crochet gift boxes and a polar bear came to join us.
For the bear I use white cotton yarn and I follow this pattern. For the scarf ch 41 (or as many stitches as you will need for it to go around the bear’s neck), turn and work a sc in each one of the stitches.
For the gift box I use the pattern below
ch : chain
sc : single crochet
sc3tog : single crochet 3 together (decrease)
sc2tog : single crochet 2 together (decrease)
st(s) : stitch(es)
Round 1: Start with a magic ring and work 6 sc (6 sts) (working in a spiral, do not join, use a stitch marker to keep track off your rounds).
Round 2: Work 2 sc in each st around (12 sts).
Round 3: *3 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 2 sts* repeat from * to * 3 more times (20 sts).
Round 4: 1 sc in next st, *3 sc in next st, 1 sc in the next 4 sts*, repeat from * to * 2 times, 3 sc in next st, 1 sc in the next 3 sts (28 sts).
Rounds 5 – 12: 1 sc in each st around. (28 sts).
Round 13: 1 sc in the next 2 sts. * Sc3tog and 1 sc in the next 4 sts*, repeat from * to * 2 more times. Sc3tog and 1 sc in the next 2 sts. (20 sts).
Round 14: 1 sc in the next st. * Sc3tog and 1 sc in the next 2 sts*, repeat from * to * 2 more times. Sc3tog and 1 sc in the next st. (12 sts).
Round 15: Sc2tog around. (6 sts). Fasten off, use tail to sew hole closed.
For the ribbon ch 90. Fasten off.
